advice for myself.
so, i found this on lovely notebookdoodles's blog the other day, {she is my fave} and for some reason i knew i'd be needing it at some point. and aparently that point is now.
things are a little crazy for me right now. and it is really hard to just pick up my spirits and continue on, but.... im going to anyway. because, for some reason, even though everything seems to be falling to pieces right now, i have this amazing peace inside of me that it is all going to be okay. in some way or another. and until then, i am praying that i can build up trust, and practice patience.

...i would love another snow day. not for the snow, but just for the ability to rest and stay at home...

wardrobe frustrations...
so, i woke up this morning with all intentions of going to the first service with a friend of mine....but then i had to get dressed. i mean, i honestly tried on ten different outfits. i HATE getting dressed on sunday mornings, because all i want to do is throw on my leggings and a shirt, but then i realize---its sunday. this is dress up day. now, dont get me wrong, i LOVE dressing up. but only in the summer, when i can wear short airy dresses and flip flops....
i wish "come as you are" really meant "come as you are" cuz, then i could come as my legging addicted, cute layered t-shirt wearing, keds footed, paint-splattered self.
oh my. so, still havent figured out what to wear, and maybe ill make it to second service... ;)

so something i have come to embrace whole-heartedly is this life-mindset:
a.we have to love life, because it's just trying to love us back
b. spontineity and adventure are a necessary part of life
c. taking chances makes things interesting
d.it is good to get your heart racing and adrenaline going every once and a while
e. never hold back... all it does is limit the life experience
f. love. peace. joy. {the hippies had a point here}
g. be open with people. it is a good thing.
h. it's never a bad time for a dance party.

thought i'd share.
i just had to fill out an application form for NAHS. and this is my response to :
What is the role of the artist in our school, community, and in the world?
I have been asked many times why art is important to me, to my community, and to humanity. This is such an easy thing for me to answer, because I have spent so much time pondering it. On a personal level, I love art-any kind, I’m not picky. And I love learning new techniques and tips, and skills, and styles.
Art is such an amazing outlet for expression. We, as human beings need art. We need to create, need to express ourselves, need to visualize things. Every one of us is an artist. An artist of numbers, of words, of clay, of wood, of metal, of science. And, when that creative spirit takes over, any of us can make something beautiful. But so many people feel like they cant visually express themselves because they feel like they are not good enough. And I believe that the role of the artist, such as myself, is to show others how to be artists too. I am so passionate about sharing the joy of creating with the world. It is my motivation, my goal, my reason for being an artist.
a proposal.
so... i saw these chalkboard mugs in starbucks, and my mind had a pondering.
she walks into the shop, only five minutes late. there he is, sitting in the corner, with a look on his face that says 'you're late.'
"hey, give me a break, it's raining outside." she says with a smile, as she leans over to kiss his forhead before taking a seat at the little table for two.
"it's fine babe. i just walked in myself. so i'm thinking about getting hot chocolate this time. what do you want?" he stands, with a big grin on his face, and nervously checks his back pocket.
"make that two! oh my, it is cold outside!" they smile at each other and he turns to order. she looks out the window. car lights reflected off the raindrops, and puddles formed in the parking lots.
then, she turns her head to look at a cuter view- he stands at the register, and pulls out his wallet to pay. he is such a handsome little man...oh my.
he turned and met her gaze, giving her a little wink, he caught me. and she averted her eyes back out the window.
he soon returns. but he only has one hot chocolate, and it is not in the normal cardboard disposable white cup. instead, it is in a huge chalkboard coffee mug. he sits it on the table.
"where's your's? and what's this?" butterflies fill her stomach; something's up....
she picks up the mug and rotates it... and on the back, scribbled in chalk, in his chickenscratch, are those four magic words, will you marry me?

an observation.
so, as i sat around today slaving away on a journal spread, a couple of puzzle pieces fit together in my head, and i realized something about myself... i like to finish things. i cant stand walking away from something that isnt complete and as close to perfect as possible. i think this is why i like to do the type of art that i do- quick, easy, and able to be finished in one sitting. and, yes, one sitting could be four or five hours or fifteen minutes, but. still, it is doable in a day.
it is SO hard for me to stop when im crafting or painting, because, i want it to be done. i dont want to have to come back and finish something. in other words, i just don't like to leave loose ends...
